Frost were asked to look at maximising the potential of this site while retaining a D1 community use for the existing tenants. Various options were considered with a mixed use scheme settled on providing 4 flats above the community use space at ground floor.
The 3 storey massing has been carefully assembled to respect the surrounding properties with each floor set-back to break up the bulk and minimise the impact on its neighbours. These staggered geometries both break up the façade and provide private amenity spaces for each flat. The L-shape plan allows dual aspect to all flats.
The building has been designed to have a contemporary appearance using brickwork and metal cladding. Recessed panels of herringbone brickwork give the building texture and a quality finish. The fenestration details also vary with recessed windows and protruding glass boxes. Green roofs to flat roof areas ensure that the building’s sustainability ambitions are achieved.
