The brief for this project was to increase both the living and sleeping accommodation for a young family, while maintaining a clean and ordered layout. Frost proposed a two storey extension to the rear and side of the house keeping the clean lines and rectilinear form. The loft conversion looked to use the extended roofspace within the sloping form avoiding large front or rear dormers.
At ground floor level, the existing kitchen and dining spaces were extended to create an open plan family room. The floor to this rear part of the house was lowered making use of the naturally sloping site and maximising the feeling of space. Large sliding doors open out onto the patio and offer expansive views to the mature garden. The use of brick internally and a stone floor brings a classic timeless quality to the finishes, which is further enhanced by the bespoke oak joinery.
The first floor was reconfigured to provide a total of four bedrooms and a large family bathroom. The master bedroom has a generous en-suite and a dressing room. A new guest bedroom was created in the loft with views across the surrounding landscape.
